Making Jeffery a Safe and Productive Learning Environment
Visitors/Guests
1) All visitors need to use Door #1 to gain entrance to the Jeffery School building unless given specific directions from a Jeffery staff member. This will be the case with our 4K families.
2) Visitors who attempt to enter the Jeffery building though any other entrance other than door #1 will be directed to our main entrance which is door #1.
3) At all times, all visitors need to check into the office or designated area immediately and sign-in to obtain a visitors pass. If a visitor, whether a known or unknown person, is not wearing a visitor badge, he or she will be questioned by school personnel and requested to report to the school office to obtain a visitor badge.
4) It is important that visitors DO NOT open doors for other visitors. The office staff needs to be aware of all visitors entering the building.
5) To ensure a positive, distraction free environment, no visitors should wait outside their child’s classroom. Jeffery staff will direct all visitors to the office or to wait outside for their child.
6) There will be no visitor passes given out the last 30 minutes of school.
Beginning & End of the Day
1) Beginning of the day: With the exception of the first two days of school, we are asking that families let their children enter the school building on their own, unless families have business/questions for the office. The expectation here at Jeffery is that teachers are interacting with students during our entrance time and starting classroom routines immediately at 7:25.
2) End of the day: All family members should wait outside at a designated meeting area to meet their children.
3) If there is a reason that our Jeffery families need to speak with the classroom teacher or the office after school, we are asking that they wait outside until 2:30 (M – R) and 11:25 (F) so that we can safely and efficiently dismiss our students.
4) At the end of the day, students are not allowed to play on the playground equipment until 2:45 (M – R) and 11:40 (F). Students who are being directly supervised by an adult will be allowed to play on the equipment before these times.
Horseshoe Drop-off & Pick-up
1) Anyone using the horseshoe process is expected to only turn right into our parking lot entrance. This creates one flow of traffic. Those who attempt to turn left into our parking lot entrance cause more congestion. When Jeffery staff members see vehicles attempting to turn left into the horseshoe, they will direct these vehicles to continue down 87th St. and enter the correct way.
2) Whether it is drop-off or pick-up, it is important that vehicles pull as far forward as room allows. Your child will walk to your car once you have pulled all the way forward and have come to a stop. When vehicles don’t pull forward, it makes the drop-off and pick-up process so much longer.
3) For pick-up at the end of the day, Jeffery staff will wait outside with your child until 2:31 (M – R) and 11:27 (F). After this time, you may need to park your vehicle and pick up your child in the office.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding any of the above procedures, please do not hesitate to make contact with the Jeffery Main Office. If we need to make accommodations due to the specific, individual needs of your child, the Jeffery staff would be more than willing to sit down and create a plan to help your child be successful here at Jeffery.
The Jeffery staff thanks everyone for helping keep our school safe and productive!
